Jesse Ross

MEd, RCC

Jesse is a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with a B.A. in Psychology from UBC and a Master’s degree in Counselling-Psychology from SFU. He has been working in the social services for 15 years and operating his private practice (Emergent Wind Counselling) for 3 years. Jesse works from a client-centered and trauma-informed approach while eclectically borrowing from varied perspectives including emotion-focused therapy, narrative therapy, CBT, and internal family systems. However, at the core of both his practice and his personal life, he is backed by the tenets of existential psychology. Boiled down to its simplest terms, existential psychology holds that we all have an innate drive to feel connected to a sense of purpose, a sense of meaning, and to our community. Often when we feel lost, we may note that we are feeling disconnected from 1 or more of these tenets of a healthy life. Jesse is deeply grateful to be able to work as a clinical counsellor and finds that this work is a key part of his own sense of purpose, meaning, and connection.

Jesse has extensive experience working with clients of all ages ranging from adolescence to the elderly. His specialties include depression and anxiety, interpersonal dynamics, hopelessness, and assisting individuals in the process of reconnecting with their best selves, their sense of identity, and their ability to find joy in life.

Whether you decide that Jesse is the best fit or not, he hopes that you will continue to pursue the instinct that has you seeking out counselling and wondering if life can be better. It can be and you are very much worth the effort.
