What goes into setting up a counselling room?

There’s a lot of thought that goes into preparing a counselling space.  We want the room to feel safe, calm, warm, and contained.  Research shows that nature images are calming for the nervous system, so we place pictures and objects in the room that give the eye a place to go when we’re reflecting and processing in session, but that don’t lead or prompt.

The rooms at East Vancouver Counselling each take this into account, but they incorporate nature in slightly different ways.  While many of our offices have large, grand windows, our inside offices are quiet and cozy.
Our rooms have themes:   beach, ocean, rock, mountain, and forest.

We welcome your feedback about our space.  Which room do you like best?  What do you like about the different rooms? What helps you to feel you can relax in a space?
