Angela Yaroshuk

I support those who want to calm their nervous system, become empowered, and gain a better understanding of their place in the world. Together, we will work on the challenging areas preventing you from reaching your goals, such as ADHD, chronic pain, post-concussion syndrome, depression, anxiety, loss of self and more. By setting your treatment goals as the target and then working on the blocks, past or present, together we will help you find health, healing, and bring you into alignment with your true self.  I believe mental health is integral to our overall well-being and that interruptions or traumas occur, creating a reduced ability to feel safe, empowered, and healthy. I create a grounded, gentle, safe space for you to work through these interrupts and find your unique path to health and healing. I understand that healing looks different for everyone, so I use a holistic approach with most of my focus on the nervous system. You are in the driver’s seat, and we work together to create healing and change that best suits you.
Angela offers online and in-person sessions.

Jesse Ross

Jesse is a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with a B.A. in Psychology from UBC and a Master’s degree in Counselling-Psychology from SFU. He has been working in the social services for 14 years and operating his private practice (Emergent Wind Counselling) for 2.5 years. Jesse works from a client-centered and trauma-informed approach while eclectically borrowing from varied perspectives including emotion-focused therapy, narrative therapy, CBT, and internal family systems. However, at the core of both his practice and his personal life, he is backed by the tenets of existential psychology. Boiled down to its simplest terms, existential psychology holds that we all have an innate drive to feel connected to a sense of purpose, a sense of meaning, and to our community. Often when we feel lost, we may note that we are feeling disconnected from 1 or more of these tenets of a healthy life. Jesse is deeply grateful to be able to work as a clinical counsellor and finds that this work is a key part of his own sense of purpose, meaning, and connection.

Jesse has extensive experience working with clients of all ages ranging from adolescence to the elderly. His specialties include depression and anxiety, interpersonal dynamics, hopelessness, and assisting individuals in the process of reconnecting with their best selves, their sense of identity, and their ability to find joy in life.

Whether you decide that Jesse is the best fit or not, he hopes that you will continue to pursue the instinct that has you seeking out counselling and wondering if life can be better. It can be and you are very much worth the effort.

Kennedy Lewis

Kennedy is Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria. She has a breadth of experience working with PTSD/trauma, anxiety, depression, disorded eating, low self-worth, boundary issues and relationship issues. Kennedy also specializes in counselling front line, support and outreach staff who are employed in trauma-exposed workplaces – as she was a support worker herself prior to becoming a counsellor.  Kennedy sees distress in her clients as a result of a disruption in the body’s relationship with safety. That disruption can occur because of any number of events and experiences that have the potential to leave us feeling scared, trapped, alone, angry and/or ashamed. Kennedy guides and supports clients in re-connecting with a sense of safety within their own bodies, in relationships with others and in their wider communities. Through this process, her clients often cultivate a strong understanding of how to regulate their nervous systems and meet their deepest needs with the resources they already have at their disposal. Not ready to commit to a session yet? Book a free, 30 minute phone or video consultation with Kennedy to see if her practice is a good fit for you.
Kennedy offers online and in-person sessions.

RCC

Galina Freed

Hi folks! My name is Galina (they/them) and I am an EMDR-trained trauma therapist living and working in Vancouver, BC.

I have about 10 years of experience as a frontline worker in Downtown Eastside’s low barrier social housing, specializing in resident support, outreach, and community development. I understand firsthand the many challenges empathetic people face while working in high-paced, resource-scarce environments.

Today, I provide mental health support to frontline workers and anyone who is experiencing burnout workplace or school stress, compassion fatigue, workplace trauma, and moral injury (a type of traumatic stress that occurs when the worker violates their own moral code in the course of their occupation).

As a trauma therapist, I work extensively with anxiety, depression, suicidality, shame and self-blame, and loss of meaning. I also provide support to post-secondary students and adults with ADHD who struggle with time management, multitasking, maintaining focus, impulse control, and emotion regulation.

A great deal of my work is situated in the queer community. I work with LGBTQIA-specific concerns, such as sexual orientation and gender identity exploration, navigating relationships and communities, and recovery from religious trauma.

Please drop me an email to book a free consultation or if you would have any questions.

MA, RCC

Kristen Bailey

Kristen is not currently accepting new clients.

My therapeutic philosophy combines Humanistic (Person Centered and Existential) with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. I believe in providing an empathetic and unconditionally supportive space that allows for processing and linking what has happened in the past to the present to support shame reduction and empathy toward one’s self with practical psychological tools that people can take with them moving forward and have agency in their recovery. Over my years as a therapist, I have seen how many of my clients are living in a deep state of shame, core fears that are not being addressed and core yearnings that are not being met. This is what I am passionate about in helping people in my practice now. My training has supported me in this work greatly, but ultimately it has been my work with clients over the years and my own experience of struggling with mental health and being committed to my own recovery, that has really informed my work and ability to support clients moving forward.

I am passionate about working with people who are struggling with perfectionism and anxiety and those who find themselves in that “middle ground” of recovery or struggle from disordered eating/body image issues where maybe it is not at the point of meeting clinical criteria, but it is causing suffering in their life.

I worked as an adolescent therapist for many years and am now a parent myself, which has  greatly increased my passion in supporting parents newly postpartum and/or struggling with various stages of parenting that can really test one’s well being and sense of themselves.

Andrea Wall

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. After living, studying, and working in the United States, Egypt, Kenya, and the Netherlands, I returned to British Columbia and spent nearly 10 years supporting immigrant and refugee newcomers to Canada. I became a counsellor because I wanted a more practical, tangible way to support folks who are struggling. I also knew, from working through my own trauma, that therapy can be an incredible tool for facilitating healing. Since 2020 I have worked as a clinical counsellor in a variety of roles, including two years supporting community members on a rural First Nations reserve as well as at a drop-in youth health centre. I currently divide my professional time between private practice and work as a trauma therapist for a local not-for-profit. When I’m not seeing clients, I enjoy walking my dog and trying to convince my partner that life really is better when lived outdoors.

Amanda Ward

Hello, I’m Amanda, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), a Certified NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback Trainer, and founder of BOOM Healing a forest based clinic in Anmore.

I work with clients to discover and unlock their capacity to heal and live a life they love and appreciate. I am passionate about, and work from, a nervous system lens because a healthy nervous system is key to feeling good and being well. I am neurodivergent and the mom of a neurodivergent kiddo and as such most of my clients have a connection to neurodivergence. One of my most important qualities as a counsellor is that I walk the talk. This means that I research and trial the techniques and skills that I bring forward during counselling. I see my role as a counsellor to come alongside clients in their healing work to offer guidance, security, co-regulation, and a safe sounding board. I am real and practical with clients; I know that life and healing work can be challenging to integrate at times and as such, I work with clients on realistic solutions. When appropriate, I also bring some levity to counselling and clients can anticipate laughter and tears. I am a natural healer and as such draw on my intuition, alongside best practices, when working with clients. My clients would describe me as down to earth, approachable, and safe.

Clients can anticipate a reflective and practical conversation. When you work with me, you can expect a perfectly imperfect counsellor who is always in the trenches. I believe there is no end game in life, just continuous learning, healing, connecting, and coming home to oneself.

Amanda offers online sessions with EVC and in person and online in Anmore, BC.

Josh Cytrynbaum

Josh currently has a waitlist for new clients.

Josh is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and has been immersed within the mental health field for over 13 years, mainly working in the non-profit sector.  His approach to therapy is rooted in person-centred, trauma-informed, and intersectional approaches.  Specifically, he utilizes many aspects of Emotion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Existential Therapy to aid clients.  In less psychobabbly terms, Josh tries to straddle the line between providing insight and tangible tools to aid his clients in reducing their suffering, while also recognizing that we are not automatons whose pain can be completely alleviated by tools alone – and that by solely working to “fix” internal mechanisms, you can oftentimes discount the immense social, societal, historical, and personal histories a person inherits and the trials we have survived.  He believes therapy, at its best, is able to hold a space for all of these things in equal measure.

Josh offers online and in-person sessions.

Samantha Moore

I offer in-person sessions on Tuesdays and online sessions throughout the week for youth and adults.

Compassion, presence and curiosity are the foundation of my therapeutic approach. At certain points in life things can feel overwhelming and confusing, especially when approached alone. Our relationships and work may suffer, and we may feel we are lost, overwhelmed, and working against ourselves. I help clients explore their experiences, relationships, values and beliefs, develop a better relationship with themselves and others, and offer guidance for nervous system regulation, self trust and compassion. By working together to create a safe and approachable internal world, we can begin to get curious about ourselves, notice patterns, process old wounds, and build self trust, acceptance, and empowerment. Our work together will be relational, reflective, and experiential, drawing on your inner strengths and providing tools for self inquiry and resilience.

I value genuine connection, humour and mindfulness as powerful avenues towards healing, and have a passion for supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, life transitions, as well as neurodiversity and supportive parenting. My approach is relational, collaborative, and attachment based, using theories of Emotion Focused Therapy, Parts work (IFS), Somatic therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion and Mindfulness based approaches. Martha Isabel

You have important work to do in therapy, so a good fit is essential!

I come to this meaningful work through my own emotional challenges. I know how it feels to be lost, depressed, anxious and in need of support as I struggled to develop coping skills, self-soothing, resilience and other important psychological tolls.  I am passionate about finding what is most meaningful in my life and supporting others in their process of discovery and meaning-making. My therapeutic approach is grounded in almost three decades of experience, EMDR,  CBT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotional Focus Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, IFS, Brainspotting, Attachment Theory, and a holistic understanding of wellness.

I also have a love for; meditation, yoga and walking with my dog.

Each of us has unique challenges that we face. Life is hard and often painful. We all need support to find our way through this confusing and challenging existence. Most of us think we are broken and aren’t certain how to help ourselves through challenges. It truly helps to let our walls down and share what we are going through in safe, caring, and genuine relationships. This is what I am offering.

In recent years, neuroscience has taught us a lot about how to make the most of the mind-body connection. As a result, tools such as EMDR, Somatic Experincing, and Internal Family System are an important part of my practice and have become powerful ways to help my clients reach their goals.

A lot of my work is with people who are struggling to accept their whole selves and to live authentically with confidence. Often this is because of past trauma, difficult family relationships, or your sexual or gender identity is not embraced and encouraged by the world around you. Others are feeling lost, depressed and anxious for all different reasons as they try to find what makes them happy and healthy. I am open and passionate about supporting many client concerns and goals but have the most experience with challenges related to trauma, CPTSD, Couples and Family Counselling, identity, self-acceptance, self-esteem, depression, General Anxiety Disorder, substance use and addiction, grief and loss, relationship communication,  LGBTQ+ support and motivation.

I truly believe you deserve to accept all parts of who you are and feel joy. If you need someone, I can be that person.
