MC (Candidate), Intern Counsellor

Accepting clients from Mon May 12 ’25

Hi there! I’m phil (he/him/his), an intern counsellor completing my Master in Counselling, with over 15 years of lived experience working in high-growth, fast-paced, organizations. I’ve spent my career fostering psychologically safe environments, blending business and human approaches to leadership, and advocating for human-centric workplaces. My passion for seeing people thrive led me to pursue my certification in developmental coaching and now further expanding my work into counselling.

My approach to counselling integrates my professional background, guiding individuals and leaders through complex challenges and interpersonal dynamics, as well as my developmental coaching experience, where I helped individuals cultivate perspective, confidence, and self-compassion on their personal growth journeys. I blend these foundations with counselling approaches to support clients in navigating life’s challenges with clarity and courage. I love supporting professionals navigating workplace challenges, individuals exploring identity, as well as couples and those in diverse relationship structures seeking deeper connection. As someone who came out as queer in my adulthood, I understand the complexities of self-discovery, identity exploration, and navigating change later in life. This lived experience informs my work with clients who are questioning or embracing their identities at any stage. I aim to create a collaborative, non-judgmental and affirming space where clients feel seen, cared for, and empowered to create meaningful change.

My therapeutic orientation draws from Internal Family Systems to help clients explore different parts of themselves, and attachment-based methods to deepen self-awareness, as well as the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy to foster fulfilling relationships. I also incorporate a social justice lens, ensuring our work together acknowledges the broader systemic factors that impact mental health and well-being. I hope to help clients grow in a way that feels true to them, courageously step into vulnerability, and expand into their best selves.

I see myself as a fellow traveller — helping clients lead authentic, connected, and fulfilling lives.
