Michael Indermaur (he/him/they/them) is a male-identifying therapist who offers individual counselling for a range of issues to adults of all ages. Most of his experience centers around depression, anxiety, addictions, body image, anger, relationships, communication, identity, self-esteem, and work-life balance. He identifies as a sex and body positive, trauma informed, minority and polyamory friendly therapist, and is committed to providing a compassionate, judgement-free, anti-oppressive space to all his clients. Michael works with clients to tailor a treatment plan that fits with their goals and personality. Mindfulness and gestalt, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioural and narrative therapies are the approaches Michael most often incorporates.
Michael grew up and received his first degree (Bsc – Biomedical science and genetics) in Australia: This has given him a strong understanding of biological and inherited factors involved in people’s challenges, but also showed him how limiting the medicalized perspective can be. Accordingly, Michael understands his clients through consideration of social, societal, personal, spiritual, and trauma-related factors also. Michael has lived experience of anxiety and identity issues and finds comfort in nature, travel, food and fitness. He encourages people who have questions or concerns about therapy to get in touch.
As a pre-licensed counsellor, Michael offers sessions at a reduced rate
Cultural Identities/Lived Experience: Gay, LGBTQ, immigrant, depression, anxiety, addiction, vegan, meditator.
