Leia (Lauren) Shay

Leia (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker and Registered Clinical Counsellor experienced in working with relationship issues, trauma (including complex/developmental trauma), sexuality concerns, abuse, abandonment, and heartbreak.

Leia’s therapeutic practice is guided by an attachment-based, trauma informed, client-centred, feminist, and strengths-based framework. She works with couples and individuals and is trained in Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, the Gottman Method, sex therapy and Narrative Therapy.

Leia is experienced in working with sexual minorities, including the LGBTQ+, practitioners of BDSM, non-monogamous relationships, and people who work in the sex industry. She also provides culturally sensitive care to Jewish individuals for challenges related to identity, intergenerational trauma, resilience, and community belonging. She is a registered service provider for the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) and also provides clinical supervision.
