Kennedy is Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria. She has a breadth of experience working with PTSD/trauma, anxiety, depression, disorded eating, low self-worth, boundary issues and relationship issues. Kennedy also specializes in counselling front line, support and outreach staff who are employed in trauma-exposed workplaces – as she was a support worker herself prior to becoming a counsellor.
Kennedy sees distress in her clients as a result of a disruption in the body’s relationship with safety. That disruption can occur because of any number of events and experiences that have the potential to leave us feeling scared, trapped, alone, angry and/or ashamed. Kennedy guides and supports clients in re-connecting with a sense of safety within their own bodies, in relationships with others and in their wider communities. Through this process, her clients often cultivate a strong understanding of how to regulate their nervous systems and meet their deepest needs with the resources they already have at their disposal.
