Dan additionally specializes in working with the mental health concerns of high-level athletes, particularly focusing on in-competition performance and navigating the transition out of sport.
Dan’s approach often resonates with people who are experiencing deep distress or self-mistrust when it seems like their own reactions to a situation don’t make sense to themselves or to those around them, often described as a feeling like there’s a battle between one’s own thoughts, emotions and bodily reactions. Drawing from DBT, ACT, and polyvagal theory, we would work together to identify where these points of disconnections between your brain, body, and emotions are showing up—and understand why they developed in the first place. From there, we’d focus on practical steps to rebuild trust, confidence, and a sense of control within yourself, while expanding your capacity for safety and connection with others and with your environment.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your thoughts, swept away by intense emotions, frequently spaced-out or disconnected from your body, or unsure how to feel connected with those around you, you don’t have to face this alone. Let’s set up a free consult to see if a somatic-embodiment approach to therapy might be the right fit for you.
