Hi, I’m Arwen (she/her), a counselling intern completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
Therapy can be a place to slow down, get curious, and make sense of where you are. I offer a warm, collaborative space where we move at a pace that feels steady and manageable. We begin with what feels most present!
My approach is grounded in humanistic values and informed by Adlerian, Narrative, and Internal Family Systems perspectives, with practical CBT and somatic skills to offer where appropriate. I’m attentive to the ways family history, identity, and broader social systems shape our lives, and I believe therapy works best when it honours both personal agency and context. There is no single right way to do this work.
I have experience supporting clients navigating trauma, sexual assault, life transitions, and new parenthood. Before beginning my counselling training, I spent many years providing birth and post partum support to diverse families. That work strengthened my trust in people’s inner wisdom, even when sometimes, it feels hard to access.
Outside of counselling, I enjoy time with family and friends, creative projects, dancing, and reading. I especially love introverted time with my wife Sam and our cats: living the East Van dream!
Cultural Identities/Lived Experience: I grew up in an alternative, queer, artistic family shaped by both creativity and instability. This background informs my respect for complexity, resilience, and the ongoing work of making meaning in our lives.
